Just got off the phone w/cousin Marie. Auntie Faye just passed away @ cousin Sisi's home in Hawai'i. A remarkable person w/a dynamic spirit! Manuia lau malaga! Our prayers and warmest thoughts of Auntie Faye are with you Uncle Leiataua Vaiao and our cousins in Hawai'i, Samoa and stateside during this sensitive time. Rest In Peace and Love, Auntie Faye!
She was just an absolutely inspirational woman and lived life with a purpose and with such passion! We will surely miss her physical presence among us.
She was such an influential person in our family. She wrote a book too that you can get on eBay or Barnes and Nobles called "My Samoan Chief". It's a must read Samoan literary classic and talks about my dad's family a lot from an in-law's perspective ;-). We need all the prayers and good thoughts we can get :-). My parents are in Las Vegas and were there for a family wedding that happened yesterday and are visiting with some of our family there when I broke the news to my Mom and Dad. My Dad will be flying out to Hawaii to be with my Uncle (one of his oldest brothers) my cousins and their kids. Auntie Fay was a gem to those of us who knew her.
One of my very first memories of Aunty Fay when I was a very young child was her (an older person) actually taking interest in how I was and what I was doing. The mere fact that she took time to have a conversation w/me lit up my face :-). Little things like that stay w/people and go a long way. She's in a better place now not suffering anymore.
